[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Kang Won-rae of the group 'Clon' expressed discomfort at a netizen's offer to cure his lower body paralysis.
On the 24th, Kang Won-rae shared a message from a netizen on his Instagram who claimed they could cure his lower body paralysis.
In the revealed conversation, the netizen said, "I have cared for paralysis patients for over 20 years," and added, "Usually, movement returns within 30 minutes, and I think I can determine whether you can walk within about an hour."
In response, Kang Won-rae declined, saying, "I have also been disabled for 20 years. I'm fine, so please help other patients."
He said, "In the past, when I received such texts or calls, I would get angry and curse out of frustration, but I realize that all of this is attention for me and a feeling of pity directed at me."
He continued, "However, I hope people understand that excessive attention and pity can cause discomfort."
He added, "I have met many people including pastors, monks, psychics, martial arts masters, acupuncturists, energy healers, Horanggyo, Dr. Hwang, and many others. Sometimes I cried out of despair and sometimes laughed in disbelief."
Kang Won-rae was diagnosed with lower body paralysis after a motorcycle accident in November 2000.
He later married singer Kim Song in 2003 and has one son.
