Professor Ko Jaehwi of Dongshin University Awarded the Order of Okjo Geunjeong, a National Medal of Honor

Recognition for Contributions to Fostering Peace and Unification Culture

Professor Ko Jaehwi of Dongshin University Awarded the Order of Okjo Geunjeong, a National Medal of Honor


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professor Ko Jaehwi of the Department of Military Studies at Dongshin University (Director of the Northeast Asia Research Institute) was awarded the Order of Okjo Geunjeong Medal in recognition of his efforts in fostering a culture of peace and unification and nurturing unification talents.


According to Dongshin University on the 23rd, Professor Ko, a military expert on inter-Korean peace and unification relations, has served as a policy advisory member of the Ministry of Unification, a member of the National Unification Advisory Council, a unification education committee member of the Ministry of Unification, and the secretary-general of the Gwangju and Jeonnam Council. He promoted various customized peace and unification education programs such as open unification lectures and visiting unification education.


He also developed unification education programs to help students and citizens easily understand peace and unification, contributing to creating a social atmosphere for peace and unification.


Over the past 34 years, he has given 777 lectures on unification to 150,451 people at elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, and civic organizations, and authored 25 research papers and 31 books related to peace and unification policies.


In recognition of these achievements, he was also selected as the ‘Unification Education Person of the Year’ during the Peace and Unification Education Week hosted by the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Education.
