[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] NCSoft (hereinafter NC)'s 'Lineage M' has celebrated its 3rd anniversary. Released on June 21, 2017, Lineage M is a mobile game that utilizes the intellectual property (IP) of the PC game 'Lineage.' Even before its release, Lineage M rewrote the history of domestic mobile games. The pre-registration, which began on April 12, 2017, reached 1 million users in just 8 hours, 2 million in 3 days, and 3 million in 14 days. By the end of the pre-registration period on June 18, it recorded 5.5 million users, setting the highest record at the time. This upward trend continued after the launch. Lineage M dominated the two major open markets within two days and maintained the number one spot in Google Play revenue for 2 years and 5 months, making it one of the most beloved mobile games in Korea.

Lineage M has consistently received players' choice over the long period of three years by offering steady updates and fresh content. During the three years of service, it has undergone more than 20 large-scale updates and over 140 regular weekly patches. Along with large-scale updates, NC added original classes (jobs) that did not appear in the original game. This redefined the superiority relationships among existing classes and revitalized the core of Lineage M, player versus player (PvP) and large-scale battles. Recently, updates have included adding skills and significantly enhancing the stats of the elf and wizard classes, continuing to experiment with new attempts. Various battle contents exclusive to Lineage M have also been introduced. Representative examples include 'Collapsing Island,' where users from 10 servers belonging to the same world compete for survival in a constantly changing dungeon, and 'World Faction War,' where up to 1,000 users are divided into attack and defense factions to defeat boss monsters and earn rewards.

Since then, development visions such as 'Master Server,' 'Idle Play,' and 'Voice Command' have been unveiled, presenting a new paradigm in the mobile game market.
