22 Companies Selected for National Human Resources Development Consortium Best Joint Training Center Awards Ceremony


The National Human Resources Development Consortium (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Consortium’) held the Best Joint Training Center Awards Ceremony today, the 16th (Tuesday), at The M Convention (Ulsan Metropolitan City).


The ceremony was held to encourage the joint training centers selected as the best training institutions through the 2019 performance evaluation and to share and spread best practices. It was hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister Lee Jae-gap) and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (President Kim Dong-man).


The joint training centers selected as the best this time are Hyundai Rotem Co., Ltd., Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center, Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, LG Electronics Inc., Korea Intelligent IoT Association, POSCO Co., Ltd., Lee Young Industrial Machinery Co., Ltd., Incheon Technopark, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., Korea Electrical Engineers Association, Korea Intelligent Transportation Systems Association, Korean Register, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., Renault Samsung Motors Co., Ltd., Korea Defense Industry Promotion Association, National Clinical Trial Center Foundation, Korea Smart Grid Association, Ssangyong Motor Company, Kolon Industries Inc., Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd., Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and Pusan National University, totaling 22 organizations.


Kim Dong-man, President of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, stated in his greeting, “While encouraging the achievements of the best joint training centers, we ask for their active role in expanding government vocational training.”


Kim Min-seok, Director General of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, also emphasized, “In preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, it is necessary to expand vocational training support linked to employment retention for paid and unpaid leave workers, centered on capable joint training centers such as large corporations. Furthermore, joint training centers should play an important role as shared training infrastructure that meets the K-Digital era, including telecommuting for employees of small and medium-sized partner companies and digital convergence training.”


After the awards ceremony, a session was held to share best practices of the joint training centers. Hyundai Rotem, which gave the first presentation, shared cases on improving the vocational training system for win-win cooperation among large, medium, and small enterprises and efficient training management methods through the “Education Quality 2.0 Project” and the “Total Care Package System.”


Following this, Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation shared cases of achieving a 92% employment rate for contracted companies through the operation of customized training tailored to field demands and job analysis for small and medium enterprises, based on the government’s strategic industry talent development plan, including the latest technologies converging with spatial information such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Smart City.


Meanwhile, Consortium vocational training is a small and medium enterprise demand-tailored vocational competency development project operated by joint training centers and supported by the government. As of June 2020, 139 joint training centers are participating in the project, and approximately 160,000 people are expected to undergo 2,845 training courses this year.


Additionally, this year, to design customized training based on job analysis of small and medium enterprises (contracted companies), 31 training institutions including POSCO (as of June 2020) were selected as enterprise demand-tailored joint training centers, and professional training courses reflecting field training demands will be additionally operated.
