[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 16th that starting from the 1st of next month, the illegal parking and stopping resident reporting system will be expanded to include school zones in front of elementary schools.
The illegal parking and stopping resident reporting system is a system that allows residents to report illegally parked or stopped vehicles through a smartphone app (Ministry of the Interior and Safety Safety News Department) and imposes fines without the need for on-site dispatch of responsible officials. However, reports must be made so that the violation area, vehicle number, and shooting time can be identified at the same location.
The county currently imposes fines for illegal parking and stopping on reports where two or more photos are taken at 1-minute intervals in the four prohibited illegal parking zones: within 5 meters of fire hydrants, within 5 meters of intersection corners, within 10 meters of bus stops, and on crosswalks. The plan is to expand this to include school zones in front of elementary schools.
Accordingly, the illegal parking and stopping resident reporting system will be implemented for 18 elementary school zones in the county from the 1st to the 31st of next month, with a one-month guidance period, and starting from August 3rd, fines of 80,000 KRW for passenger cars and 90,000 KRW for vans will be imposed on violating vehicles.
Unlike the existing four illegal parking prohibited zones that operate 24 hours a day, the school zone resident reporting system will operate only on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., considering school commuting hours.
A Muan-gun official said, “Before implementing the illegal parking and stopping resident reporting system in school zones, we will do our best to promote and guide to ensure a safe commute for children,” and asked for the active cooperation of residents.
