[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The National Police Agency's 'Traffic Civil Service 24,' which provides services such as payment of fines and penalties for traffic violations, will now be accessible on mobile devices.

The National Police Agency announced on the 14th that it has completed the development of a dedicated Traffic Civil Service 24 app and will begin a pilot operation starting on the 15th of this month.

Since 2012, the National Police Agency has operated Traffic Civil Service 24 (www.efine.go.kr), which allows users to check driver’s license information (such as aptitude tests, suspensions, disqualification periods), check and pay traffic fines and penalties, apply for Good Driver Mileage, and issue driving history certificates and traffic accident fact certificates. The service has 5.11 million users annually, with an average of about 14,000 users daily.

Until now, the Traffic Civil Service 24 was only accessible via PC, but with the development of the dedicated app by the National Police Agency, it will now be available on mobile devices as well. The 'Mobile Traffic Civil Service 24' app can be downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store starting on the 15th. After a four-month pilot operation and stabilization period until September, the service will be officially provided starting in October. The iPhone app is scheduled to be released at the time of the official launch.

Additionally, the National Police Agency plans to improve the app’s authentication features by linking with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ongoing 'Digital One-Pass Project,' allowing users to authenticate using various methods such as fingerprint, facial recognition, and pattern, in addition to the existing public certificate. A National Police Agency official stated, "We will continue to enhance the program and add service content to improve user satisfaction."
