Former Assemblyman Cheon Jeong-bae Donates Last Salary of 20th National Assembly to Constituency

Donation of Over 8.5 Million Won... Installation of Partition Screens at Senior Cafeteria in Seo-gu, Gwangju

Former Assemblyman Cheon Jeong-bae Donates Last Salary of 20th National Assembly to Constituency

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Former lawmaker Cheon Jeong-bae donated his last salary of about 8.5 million won to his constituency.

Seo-gu used this donation to install acrylic partitions on the tables of six senior citizen cafeterias in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, which had suspended operations due to COVID-19.

According to Seo-gu (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) on the 10th, there are five senior cafeterias in the district, including Seo-gu Senior Welfare Center, Ssangchon Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Siyoung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Geumho Comprehensive Welfare Center, and Seo-gu Healthy Family Support Center. Starting next month, Nongsung Bit Yeoulchae Comprehensive Welfare Center will also begin operating a senior cafeteria.

The senior cafeterias have been used by an average of about 1,200 vulnerable elderly people daily, but operations have been suspended since February due to COVID-19 and replaced with food delivery services.

Considering the current COVID-19 situation and government plans, the reopening time is being considered, and thanks to former lawmaker Cheon’s donation, partitions have been installed in the cafeterias.

A representative of Seo-gu Senior Welfare Center said, “We thank former National Assembly member Cheon Jeong-bae for sending warm affection to the local elderly until the day his term ended,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the elderly using the senior cafeterias can use them healthily and conveniently.”
