The Most Used Shopping App by Koreans is 'Coupang'


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The shopping application most used by Koreans was found to be 'Coupang.' Coupang ranked first as the most used shopping app across all generations, from teenagers to people in their 50s.


App analysis service WiseApp revealed the usage status of shopping apps by generation among Korean Android smartphone users last month, stating that Coupang was the app used by the most Koreans across all generations. Coupang was used by 13.49 million people in May, followed by Danggeun Market with 6.79 million, 11st with 6.04 million, Gmarket with 5.21 million, Wemakeprice with 3.72 million, and TMON with 3.58 million.


The secondhand trading app Danggeun Market saw its users increase from 2.41 million in May last year to 6.79 million this May, showing a 182% growth rate. Usage varied by generation. In particular, teenagers and people in their 20s used quite different apps compared to other generations. Teenagers used shopping apps in the order of Coupang, Ably, Zigzag, Danggeun Market, StyleShare, and Musinsa. People in their 20s used Coupang, Danggeun Market, Zigzag, Musinsa, 11st, and Idus in that order.


People in their 30s and 40s used shopping apps in the order of Coupang, Danggeun Market, 11st, Gmarket, Wemakeprice, and TMON. Those aged 50 and above used Coupang, Danggeun Market, 11st, Gmarket, Home&Shopping, and GS SHOP in that order. This survey was conducted by WiseApp as a sample survey of 60,000 Android smartphone users nationwide over the past month.
