[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Lee Yong-soo (92), a victim of the Japanese military sexual slavery, expressed her "deep sorrow" over the news of the death of the head of the Justice Memory Foundation Mapo Shelter.

According to the Korea Times on the 7th, Lee called her close aide A around 11 a.m. and said, "There is unfortunate news from Seoul. There has been an incident, so let's cancel all schedules today and stay quietly."

A said, "Early in the morning, she received a call from an acquaintance and learned about the shelter head's extreme choice," adding, "Later in the morning, she called me and calmly said she wanted to stay quiet."

Lee attended the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Japanese Military Sexual Slavery Victims Memorial Ceremony held on the 6th at the Heum History Museum in Jung-gu, Daegu. The event is hosted annually on June 6 by the Citizens' Group with Grandmothers of the Military Sexual Slavery Victims in Daegu-Gyeongbuk.

At the event, Lee continued to criticize the organizers and civic groups related to the comfort women issue. Sitting in front of the ancestral rites table, she said, "Sisters, until now, this has not been resolved, and here I am crying in front of you."

She continued, "I like the Council for the Measures on the Issue of the Military Sexual Slavery Victims. The council treated us as the same military sexual slaves and exploited the comfort women, selling us out repeatedly for 30 years, which has now been revealed," adding, "We will establish a correct historical perspective on the comfort women and remove those like the Council for the Measures on the Military Sexual Slavery Victims."

Regarding Rep. Yoon Mee-hyang of the Democratic Party of Korea holding a press conference on the 29th of last month to explain allegations of poor accounting at the Justice Foundation, Lee said, "I have nothing to say. If you committed a crime, you must be punished," and expressed strong feelings, "Why watch a press conference? I didn't watch it."

According to the Paju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 7th, police received a report on the 6th from an acquaintance of shelter head B saying, "We cannot reach her." The police and fire authorities opened the entrance door of B's apartment in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, around 10:35 p.m. and found B deceased in the bathroom.
