[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] A fire suspected to be arson broke out in an apartment in Munmak-eup, Wonju-si, Gangwon Province.
The fire, which occurred at around 5:51 a.m. on the 7th, burned 30㎡ of the apartment and was extinguished by firefighters who responded to the report.
In the apartment where the fire was extinguished, a boy identified as A (14) was found dead with full-body burns. A's mother, B (37), was found dead on the first floor of the apartment.
Additionally, B's husband, C (42), jumped from the apartment and was transferred to the hospital for treatment but remains in critical condition.
Flammable materials and oil containers were found in the master bedroom and a small room of the apartment where the fire broke out. It is known that B and C were undergoing divorce proceedings.
The police plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, based on the discovery of stab wounds on the body of the deceased A.
