[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 7th that the five-day online international conference 'CAC Global Summit 2020,' held to overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis and prepare for an era of great transformation, concluded with great interest as the YouTube videos (Korean and English) surpassed 10 million views.

The city forecasts that if the current trend continues, surpassing 20 million views by the end of this month will also be achievable.

In particular, the dialogue session held on the 4th between Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon and the world-renowned scholar Jared Mason Diamond, which lasted about 90 minutes, gained popularity with over 1.05 million views.

According to Seoul's statistics, from the 1st to the 5th, a total of 15 sessions including the 'Urban Government Mayors' Meeting,' sectoral sessions on climate and environment, distinguished guest dialogues, and comprehensive discussions were held as audience-free video conferences for a total of 1,355 minutes, approximately 23 hours. Forty-two cities participated in the Urban Government Mayors' Meeting, and throughout the entire schedule, a total of 156 speakers, including 70 domestic experts and 86 foreign experts, engaged in heated discussions and proposed various solutions.

About ten foreign media outlets, including Qatar's state broadcaster Al Jazeera, Turkey's public broadcaster TRT, Spain's Agencia EFE news agency, France's Le Monde, and the United States' Wall Street Journal, also visited the site to cover the event and interview Mayor Park.

In his keynote speech during the comprehensive discussion on the final day of the event, the 5th, Mayor Park stated, "The new standards of the post-COVID era and the serious challenges of creating a new history in this era lie before us. It is an uncharted path that no one has traveled before, but therefore a path of infinite possibilities. Crisis is opportunity," presenting five visions: ▲ a great transformation of ecological civilization ▲ the return of localism ▲ a startup renaissance ▲ innovation and openness in the public sector ▲ openness, cooperation, and solidarity.

He emphasized, "Even in the post-COVID era, Seoul will continue to carry the flag of openness, cooperation, and solidarity," adding, "During this period of great transformation, while overcoming the infectious disease crisis facing the world and humanity, we will boldly prepare a new future as a standard city and a standard nation. We will move forward without hesitation and without stopping."
