High Participation in Boseong-gun's 'Our Neighborhood, We Cultivate Boseong600 Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] The ‘Boseong 600, Our Neighborhood We Cultivate (hereinafter Boseong 600)’ project has shown a participation rate close to 95%, with 285 out of 600 natural villages participating this year.

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that among the 12 towns and townships promoting the Boseong 600 project this year, Joseong-myeon showed the highest participation rate, with 34 out of 38 natural villages applying for the project.

Each village in Joseong-myeon has formed its own promotion and publicity teams to help spread awareness about beautifying the villages, while uniquely cultivating idle land and roadside entrances to breathe new life into the villages.

In Ipseok Village, idle land piled with discarded farming materials was cleaned up and flower beds were created by planting Korean chrysanthemum (Gujeolcho) and Dendropanax trifidus (Hwangchil tree).

Also, in Sangsin Village, hydrangeas and evening primroses were planted around the village entrance road, and in Deokchon Village, residents united their efforts to create murals on house walls, all contributing to making their neighborhood beautiful.

A resident of Joseong-myeon, Mr. Shin, said, “Even though it has been difficult to see neighbors’ faces due to COVID-19, having this precious opportunity to directly cultivate and maintain our village together with the residents made it a very meaningful and happy time.”

Meanwhile, the Boseong 600 project is a community activity led by village residents with voluntary participation, aimed at enhancing the clean image of Boseong-gun and creating neighborhoods that people want to revisit.
