[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] An incident occurred in Changwon where a public official fainted after being assaulted by a man in his 40s who visited the district office over an emergency livelihood support fund issue.

According to the Public Officials Union and the police on the 5th, at around 11 a.m. on the 2nd, a man identified as A (45) who visited the Social Welfare Department of Mapo Hapgu District Office in Changwon City swung his fist at a female public official B in her 50s.

B, who was assaulted by A, fell backward and hit her head on a table, resulting in a concussion and fainting.

At the time, A reportedly protested that the emergency livelihood support fund had not been deposited and then threw a punch.

The Public Officials Union has reportedly submitted a petition to the police requesting A's arrest, stating that he might visit the district office again.

The police have booked A on charges of obstruction of official duties and are reviewing the application for an arrest warrant.
