On the 5th, local Indian media reported that a local employee on the smartphone line at Samsung Electronics' Noida factory tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing testing at a hospital the previous day.

In response, Samsung Electronics continued normal operations for home appliance lines such as refrigerators but suspended the entire smartphone line for the day.
