[Asia Economy Kim Yeon-ju, Intern Reporter] A man in his 60s who threatened his neighbor for revenge and threatened a police officer with a hammer was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and taken into custody in court.

The 11th Criminal Division of Daegu District Court (Chief Judge Kim Sang-yoon) announced on the 5th that A (63), who was indicted on charges of threatening a neighbor for revenge and threatening a police officer with a hammer (retaliatory threats, etc.), was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and taken into custody in court.

The court stated, "A threatened the reporter of the crime of trespassing and property damage, and assaulted or threatened the victim with a hammer without special reason. He also threatened police officers with dangerous objects, obstructing official duties, showing very bad criminal nature and serious guilt."

It added, "Considering the defendant's history of multiple punishments for violence-related crimes and the fact that some victims, including the injured police officer, want the defendant to be punished," explaining the sentencing reasons.

A was prosecuted for threatening neighbor woman B (70) for revenge after she reported that he broke the front door and trespassed into his ex-wife's residence last year.

He is also charged with threatening a police station in Gyeongsan with a hammer on December 16 of the same year.
