Jang Seok-woong, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, Ranks '1st' in Support for 13 Consecutive Months Jang Seok-woong, Jeonnam Education Superintendent

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, Superintendent of Education for Jeonnam Province, has ranked first in job performance approval ratings for 13 consecutive months.

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 5th, Superintendent Jang Seok-woong received 62.9% support in the recent job performance approval survey conducted by the polling agency Realmeter among the 17 metropolitan and provincial superintendents nationwide during the third term of direct elections, maintaining first place for 13 consecutive months since May last year.

Superintendent Jang first surpassed the 60% mark in the March survey and continued to receive over 60% support for three consecutive months in the April and May surveys.

Among the 17 superintendents nationwide, Superintendent Jang is the only one to record over 60%, showing a gap of 9.9 percentage points from the second place (53.0%).

This is interpreted as the result of the approaching two-year mark of his four-year term, where the achievements of the innovative education policies he has promoted have become evident, gaining empathy from the residents and the Jeonnam education community.

In particular, the high approval rating reflects agreement and expectations for the direction under the slogan "No child will be left behind," aiming to nurture Jeonnam’s precious children without discrimination and to raise them as future talents with utmost effort.

Recently, his proactive and creative policies during the COVID-19 crisis have minimized confusion on the ground, successfully established the unprecedented online school opening, and smoothly carried out phased in-person classes, which are also cited as factors contributing to the rise in approval ratings.

The learning system "Jeonnam Classroom ON.com," developed by the Jeonnam Office of Education in preparation for online school openings, has been evaluated as a "nationwide platform."

The eco-friendly agricultural product package project, jointly implemented for the first time nationwide with Jeonnam Province, has received such a positive response that it has caused a nationwide sensation, leading to the ongoing second package project.

Meanwhile, the Realmeter regular survey for May was conducted from May 23 to May 29, targeting 17,000 men and women aged 18 and over nationwide (1,000 per metropolitan and provincial area). The sampling error by region is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate is 4.8%.
