[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 50s who caused a disturbance at the 'Statue of Peace' while intoxicated was apprehended by the police.

The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 5th that they have booked Mr. A, a man in his 50s, without detention on charges of property damage.

Mr. A is accused of pulling on the scarf tied to the Statue of Peace at Yongdu Park in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, for about an hour around 6:40 p.m. the previous day, and damaging a flower vase placed at the statue's feet.

The police arrested Mr. A following a report from a passerby. It was reported that Mr. A stated he could not remember the incident due to being intoxicated at the time. The police believe this incident is unrelated to the recent controversy involving the Justice Memory Solidarity organization.
