[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is urgently conducting on-site inspections to check compliance with quarantine guidelines at multi-use facilities until the 12th, following the recent local spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and recommendations to refrain from operating high-risk facilities and to comply with quarantine rules.
The inspection targets include a total of 298 locations: 35 PC rooms, 138 singing practice rooms, 80 other facilities such as coin karaoke rooms, and 45 fitness facilities.
The inspections are being carried out by 10 teams of two Dongjak-gu office employees each, in the form of unannounced checks during the period. Going forward, systematic and continuous inspections will be conducted focusing on facilities that fail to comply with quarantine rules by district.
First, singing practice rooms including coin karaoke rooms will be inspected twice during the period, while PC rooms and fitness facilities will be primarily inspected based on recent on-site checks identifying non-compliant businesses.
PC rooms and singing practice rooms will be checked for compliance with strengthened quarantine guidelines, including ▲management of visitor logs ▲symptom checks of visitors ▲mask-wearing by business owners and employees ▲designation of quarantine managers ▲indoor disinfection before and after business hours. Fitness facilities will be inspected for ▲mask-wearing by fitness instructors and trainers ▲use of personal items such as exercise equipment ▲maintaining minimum distance between users, in accordance with the strengthened “social distancing quarantine guidelines” from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19.
The district office will immediately request corrections through administrative guidance for minor violations of quarantine rules and will notify businesses of procedures to claim damages such as treatment and quarantine costs if confirmed cases occur.
For businesses that continuously and intentionally violate quarantine rules, administrative orders subject to fines of up to 3 million KRW will be enforced in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Mayor Changwoo Lee of Dongjak-gu said, “We ask for thorough compliance with quarantine rules at these multi-use facilities to block COVID-19 in the local community,” and added, “We also ask residents to take personal responsibility as quarantine agents and manage personal hygiene in line with social distancing.”
