[Public Notice+] Dawonsys Wins Bid for 269.7 Billion KRW Seoul Metro Line 4 Train Cars, 210 Units

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Dawonsys Co., Ltd. announced on the 4th that it won the bid for the "210 cars of Seoul Subway Line 4" worth 269.7 billion KRW (including VAT) ordered by Seoul Metro.

The project Dawonsys won this time involves electric trains to be deployed on Line 4. The vehicles are planned to be produced at the Gimcheon and the newly completed Jeongeup factories this year, with sequential delivery scheduled from September 2022 to May 2024.

The new Line 4 electric trains will have a maximum operating speed of 110 km/h and consist of 10-car trainsets. They will be equipped with a SMART real-time integrated information system that transmits operational information and CCTV video data in real time to prevent failures and optimize maintenance cycles. Additionally, inspection devices and CCTV will be installed to automatically check the overhead lines, vehicle undercarriage, and facility conditions, ensuring optimized maintenance efficiency.

A Dawonsys official stated, "The Line 4 electric trains supplied this time are AC/DC dual-mode trains capable of operating on both AC and DC sections of the line. Based on this production achievement, we will manufacture vehicles that can be applied to any domestic or international line." He added, "Leveraging Dawonsys's recognized technology and track record, we plan to expand into next-generation railway projects, including private investment projects and overseas markets."

He also added, "In April, a new railway vehicle production base was completed in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, and together with the existing Gimcheon factory, our railway vehicle production capacity has improved, further strengthening our competitiveness in the railway business."
