[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] Korea Startup Forum (hereinafter referred to as Kospo) announced on the 4th that it has signed a business agreement with Busan Metropolitan City (hereinafter referred to as Busan) to support innovative growth of startups. On the same day, a signing ceremony and a startup live talk with about 100 entrepreneurs from the Busan area were held at Nurimaru APEC House in Haeundae, Busan.

At the signing ceremony, Kospo Chairman Lee Seung-geon, CEO Choi Sung-jin, Busan Regional Council Chairman Jung Jae-wook, and Busan Deputy Mayor for Economy Park Seong-hoon attended and pledged mutual cooperation to develop the startup ecosystem in Korea and support innovative growth of startups. Taking this agreement as an opportunity, both organizations will take the lead in creating a balanced startup ecosystem through exchanges between startup entities in Busan and the metropolitan area, and will jointly promote projects that support startup growth by utilizing capabilities such as infrastructure, programs, and networks. They also plan to cooperate broadly to build the startup ecosystem by expanding partnerships with accelerators and venture capitalists (VCs) to revitalize the region’s weakened investment ecosystem and establish a foundation for Busan startups to enter the global stage.

In the subsequent startup live talk, Viva Republica CEO Lee Seung-geon was the first speaker, delivering a special lecture titled "Startup, a journey to create a better world through technological innovation," introducing the beginning and growth process of Toss, as well as the culture of the Toss team, while offering several pieces of advice on entrepreneurship and decision-making to contemporary entrepreneurs. Following him, Bomap CEO Ryu Jun-woo and TWC CEO Park Min-young took the stage to share their experiences of raising over 10 billion KRW in investment and IR know-how with local entrepreneurs.

Lee Seung-geon, Chairman of Kospo, said, "I agree that balanced growth between regions and the metropolitan area is necessary for the Korean startup ecosystem to develop further," adding, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will actively cooperate to create a startup-friendly ecosystem in Busan with over 130 Busan entrepreneurs participating in Kospo, and focus Kospo’s capabilities on creating a better environment by paying attention to the difficulties faced by startups based in various regions."
