DataHero and Ministry of Science and ICT Selected for '2020 DataStars'

[Asia Economy Reporter Koh Hyung-kwang] DataHero announced on the 4th that it has been selected for the '2020 DataStars' by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Data Agency. DataStars is the only domestic data startup specialized program supporting the commercialization of innovative ideas using data, now in its 7th year.


The DataStars support program has discovered 79 innovative services over the past six years, including Rainist (BankSalad), Riiid (Santa TOEIC), Watcha (Watcha Play), Korea Credit Data (CashNote), Korea Livestock Data (FarmsPlan), and DeepingSource (Nachos). Until last year, it has demonstrated outstanding achievements externally, such as attracting a cumulative private investment of 77.9 billion KRW, 23 cases of overseas service expansion and establishment of overseas corporations and branches, and more than 32 domestic and international awards.


This year, a total of 414 startups applied for DataStars, recording a maximum competition rate of 34.5 to 1. After step-by-step selection evaluations including the 1st round (document review), 2nd round (business feasibility in-depth review), and 3rd round (presentation), 12 companies including DataHero were finally selected. DataHero participated with its business project 'ChoiceStockUS,' a US stock analysis service utilizing big data and algorithms, and was selected as a DataStars company this year. Kim In-jung, CEO of DataHero, said, "Big data analysis is essential even for investment decision-making," adding, "Being selected for DataStars will contribute to spreading a culture of data-driven investment decision-making."
