[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is accepting entries for the '6th Seoul, Architecture Story' storytelling contest from the 4th until September 11.
This year, centered on the theme of ‘Gap Architecture’ from the 12th Seoul Architecture Culture Festival, the contest has added a new drawing category alongside essay, video, and photo categories, awarding a total of 26 winners across four categories.
Anyone can apply, and participants may submit entries in multiple categories including essay, video, photo, and drawing. Applicants must submit their works and application forms online. This year, an SNS submission method has been introduced, allowing photo and drawing entries to be submitted via Instagram hashtags. (Required hashtag: #SeoulArchitectureStory)
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to select the final winners at the end of September through an in-depth review by a judging panel composed of external experts.
Submitted works will be evaluated by a separate judging panel based on theme relevance, creativity, artistry, and usability to determine the final winners (1 Grand Prize, 4 Excellence Awards, 8 Merit Awards, 12 Encouragement Awards, and 1 Group Teacher Award).
Selected architectural works will be compiled into an award-winning collection and distributed, with plans to widely promote the characteristics and historical significance of the buildings as tourism resources.
Additionally, winners will be invited to an awards party and receive the Seoul Mayor’s Award, and the winning works will be exhibited in connection with the Seoul Architecture Culture Festival.
This contest will also feature programs for citizens such as supporters, traveling contests, and architectural culture tours, with prior registration available through the official website.
Ryu Hun, head of the Seoul Housing and Architecture Headquarters, said, “Along with new residential styles in Seoul, we aim to get closer through stories of people and architecture, reflecting the lives of Seoul citizens. We look forward to the active participation of everyone who loves Seoul, freely expressing their unique perspectives experienced while living in the city.”
