GS Home Shopping Holds 'Social Impact Project' Special Lecture Online

Startups Provide Education and Entrepreneurship Opportunities to Youth
3rd Year This Year, Capacity Expanded to 400 Participants

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] GS Home Shopping is conducting the special lectures for the social venture startup support project 'Social Impact Project' held this year as online lectures to practice 'social distancing in daily life.'

The 'Social Impact Project' is a social contribution project by GS Home Shopping designed to provide education and startup opportunities to prospective entrepreneurs dreaming of social innovation in the manufacturing sector, early startups that have already started but need expert mentoring and commercialization support, and young people who want systematic commercialization support. First launched in 2018 and now recruiting for its third term this year, the 'Social Impact Project' has been discovering and supporting social ventures that aim to solve social problems through manufacturing business in collaboration with the social enterprise 'Underdogs' and the social finance institution 'Korea Social Investment.'

Especially this year, to comply with 'social distancing in daily life' due to the novel coronavirus infection, the 'startup special lecture' program, where participants listen to and communicate with representatives who have succeeded in social innovation startups, has been converted to an online format. While the previous offline lectures could only offer opportunities to a limited number of applicants due to space constraints, this year the capacity has been expanded to 400 participants thanks to the online format.

The startup special lectures, consisting of a total of three sessions, successfully held the first lecture on the 29th of last month, with the second and third lectures scheduled for the 5th and 12th of this month, respectively. At the lecture on the 5th, Park Je-hwan, CEO of the lighting social venture 'Lumir,' will appear as a speaker to share his story under the theme 'Startup Changing the World with Warm Technology.'
