'Gang Gam-chan City' Gwanak-gu Operates 'Gang Gam-chan Theme Bus'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been operating the 'Gang Gam-chan Theme Bus' since this month to promote Gang Gam-chan City, Gwanak.

The village bus passing through Nakseongdae, the birthplace of General Gang Gam-chan, is decorated with Gang Gam-chan character stickers and operated as a theme bus to actively promote the Gang Gam-chan general brand representing Gwanak-gu.

The theme bus is the Gwanak 02 village bus that runs from Nakseongdae Station, passing Nakseongdae Park, to Seoul National University, with a total of three buses operating in rotation.

The exterior of the bus is adorned with various character stickers of General Gang Gam-chan, one of the three national heroes, along with background stickers of the sky and green fields symbolizing challenge and hope, applied on the front and sides, harmonizing with the green village bus to create a sense of unity.

Inside, Gang Gam-chan characters can be found in various places such as the exit doors and windows, and explanatory texts about Nakseongdae and the Goryeo-era Battle of Gwiju are attached to provide opportunities for historical learning.

Additionally, for the first time on a village bus, a side number plate featuring the Gang Gam-chan character has been installed to enhance user convenience, and a bus announcement is broadcast for passengers visiting Nakseongdae for the first time.

Since January this year, the district confirmed the dual naming system allowing the use of both Nakseongdae Station and Gang Gam-chan Station names. In June last year, the section of Gwanak-gu from Siheung IC to Sadang IC (7.6 km) on Nambusunhwan-ro was named 'Gang Gam-chan-daero' and designated as an honorary road, creating an opportunity to widely promote the Gang Gam-chan general city brand.

Since the launch of the 7th local government, the district has been focusing on building the Gang Gam-chan city brand that strengthens the region's historical and cultural identity and creating a 'Gang Gam-chan theme city' where the spirit of General Gang Gam-chan can be felt throughout the area.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Through the operation of the Gang Gam-chan theme bus, we will offer more sights and memories to visitors and residents of our district,” and added, “We will do our best to create ‘Gwanak-gu, the city of history and culture’ through various efforts to build the Gang Gam-chan general city brand.”
