Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Related to Incheon Gaechuk Church Reported in Suwon, Gyeonggi (Update)

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] A new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) confirmed case related to the Incheon Gaechuk Church has been reported in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Suwon City government announced on the 3rd that a woman in her 60s, A (patient number 65), residing in Gwanggyo Doosan We’ve in Woncheon-dong, Yeongtong-gu, was confirmed positive for COVID-19.

It was confirmed that Ms. A showed coughing symptoms on the 1st and was tested at the Yeongtong-gu Public Health Center screening clinic on the 2nd, where she was diagnosed positive.

The city authorities estimate that Ms. A was infected after contact with patient B (71-year-old female), patient number 44 from Michuhol-gu, Incheon, on the 30th of last month.

Pastor B is one of the confirmed cases related to the Incheon Gaechuk Church and was diagnosed positive on the 1st after attending a meeting at a church in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province on the 27th of last month.

The infection related to the Gaechuk Church is presumed to have originated from patient number 209 (57-year-old female), a pastor of a church in Bupyeong-gu.

Patient 209 was investigated to have attended worship services at four churches in Bupyeong-gu and Michuhol-gu from the 25th to the 28th of last month, participating in Gaechuk Church meetings.

The infection route of patient 209 has not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, as of 12 noon on the 3rd, the Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases related to the Incheon Gaechuk Church increased by 10 from the previous day, totaling 55 cases.
