[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] One of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, has been identified as a pharmaceutical company sales representative. This confirmed case is known to have stayed at local hospitals and pharmacies, causing concern among health authorities.


According to Bucheon City on the 3rd, A (31), the 118th confirmed case in Bucheon residing in Sosabon-dong, has been identified as a pharmaceutical company sales representative. The city reported that after coming into contact with the 46th confirmed case in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, A experienced suspicious symptoms and underwent a specimen test on the 31st of last month, receiving a positive result the following day, the 1st.


In particular, it is reported that A likely stayed at hospitals and pharmacies as a pharmaceutical company sales representative.


Regarding this, Jang Deokcheon, mayor of Bucheon, explained, "According to the investigation by health authorities so far, A is known to have stayed at five locations including hospitals and pharmacies," and added, "Eleven other pharmaceutical company sales representatives who had contact with A during the same period all tested negative."


Meanwhile, health authorities are conducting an epidemiological investigation, presuming that A was infected while dining with the 46th confirmed case in Gangseo-gu, and plan to focus on tracing A’s movements and identifying close contacts.
