[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The Gyeongnam Gimhae Industrial Promotion Bio-Life Convergence Foundation (hereinafter 'the Foundation') announced on the 3rd that it will recruit 22 companies to move into the Medical Device Convergence Commercialization Center within the Gimhae City Bio-Life and Medical Device Specialized Zone.
The Medical Device Commercialization Center is being constructed on the Foundation's site with one basement floor and seven above-ground floors, covering a total area of 723㎡. It is part of the 'Intelligent Machine-Based Medical Device Convergence Commercialization Project,' which will receive approximately 30 billion KRW in funding over five years, and is scheduled for completion in July this year.
Among all product categories, the Medical Device Commercialization Center prioritizes support for specialized medical supplies and rehabilitation devices. It is equipped with infrastructure such as rental-type GMP (10,000 class), production support rooms, equipment support rooms, and company office spaces, providing a testbed for medical device research and development, prototype production, usability evaluation, and mass production processes.
In particular, the Foundation has established a 'Hydrogel and Electrospinning-Based Production System' within the production support room to manufacture wound dressings and functional mask fabrics. As it pursues GMP certification for the manufacturing facilities, it is expected to greatly assist small businesses that face difficulties in creating and maintaining medical device production environments.
