[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The KBS comedy program "Gag Concert," which is effectively heading toward abolition, is holding its final recording today (the 3rd) amid a hidden camera scandal in the women's restroom.

On the 14th of last month, the KBS production team announced, "Gag Concert, which has tirelessly brought laughter to South Korea for over 20 years, will take a temporary break."

The production team expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank the talented comedians who have been responsible for weekend laughter in South Korea through catchphrases and acting, as well as the viewers who have loved the program. We promise to deliver the cheerful laughter typical of Gag Concert until the very end and hope to meet again with a new comedy program that the whole family can enjoy together."

First aired on September 4, 1999, "Gag Concert" is the longest-running comedy program in South Korean history. However, due to changes in the broadcasting environment, shifts in comedy trends, and limitations of public comedy programs, it has been decided to take a break.

Meanwhile, as the longest-running comedy program comes to an end, controversy arose when it was revealed on the 2nd that the suspect who installed an illegal filming device in the women's restroom inside the KBS research building was a cast member of "Gag Concert."

Earlier, a KBS official discovered the illegal filming device installed in the women's restroom at the headquarters and reported it to the police.

According to the police, the suspect voluntarily appeared for questioning on the 1st and was investigated.
