Professor at Kyung Hee University accused of sexually assaulting student sent to prosecution Kyung Hee University Main Building, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] A Kyung Hee University professor accused of sexually assaulting a graduate student has been referred to the prosecution.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 2nd that it is investigating Professor A of Kyung Hee University on charges of quasi-rape.

Professor A is accused of giving alcohol to graduate student B, whom he was supervising, in November last year, and after B lost consciousness, taking B to a hotel and sexually assaulting her.

Student B filed a complaint against Professor A with the police, and the Seoul Mapo Police Station referred Professor A to the prosecution in March without detention, recommending indictment.

It is known that Professor A is still lecturing at the university, and the school has belatedly begun an internal investigation.

A Kyung Hee University official stated, "On the 29th of last month, the case involving Professor A was received by the university's Gender Equality Counseling Office and is currently under investigation," adding, "Whether to discipline the professor will be decided based on the investigation results."
