Jung Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, "A 76-year-old man living in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, showed symptoms such as muscle pain and fever starting from the 25th of last month. After a specimen test was conducted at Gangnam Severance Hospital yesterday, he tested positive this morning. Currently, Gangnam-gu is conducting a detailed epidemiological investigation to identify the specific infection route of this man."
◆ Number of Specimen Tests
Today, 22,907 people were tested at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic. Among the 324 tested yesterday, 88 were overseas entrants and 236 were domestic residents. The high number of domestic residents tested is due to the recent increase in community infections, which has led residents from other regions to visit our Gangnam-gu Public Health Center more frequently.
Gangnam-gu is doing its best to block community infections by conducting random sampling tests for elderly residents and workers at local nursing homes and daycare centers, foreign workers at construction sites, and vulnerable residents who have difficulty visiting screening clinics.
◆ Status of Self-Quarantine
Today, there are 1,245 people in self-quarantine, of whom 1,158 are overseas entrants and 87 are domestic contacts.
Gangnam-gu is not only strictly managing those in self-quarantine but also conducting an additional round of testing for those who have been released from quarantine to preemptively block the spread of community infections caused by overseas entrants.
Therefore, they urge those who have been released from self-quarantine but have not yet been tested to visit the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center and undergo another test without fail.
