[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Iksan City's return-to-farming and rural policies are gaining momentum ahead of the completion of the family practice farm residential facility.
The city is focusing on attracting population centered on rural areas by providing various support measures, including offering pre-residential facilities where people can observe and experience agricultural and rural sites.
Iksan City announced that it will complete the 'Stay-type Farm Practice Farm Residential Facility,' which provides prospective return-to-farming and rural residents with an opportunity to live in the countryside in advance to help them settle stably, on the 10th.
The newly constructed residential facility consists of a total of 10 units: six 1-room units (27㎡) and four 2-room units (54㎡).
The facility also includes a common room that can be used as a place for harmony and meetings among residents.
The city is recruiting residents for the stay-type family practice farm residential facility until the 10th.
Eligibility for residency is for those wishing to return to farming or rural life in Iksan City, with applications accepted for two or more people per household.
Those who have moved into rural areas within the jurisdiction within one year can also apply, and young return-to-farming residents (under 40 years old) will be given preferential selection.
Additionally, residents can plant and cultivate crops directly in the farm practice farm, which provides 100㎡ per household, allowing them to gain farming experience.
Furthermore, residents can participate in various return-to-farming and rural education and farming training programs promoted by the Agricultural Technology Center.
Jung Heon-ryul, mayor of Iksan City, said, “The temporary residential facility is expected to increase the settlement rate of return-to-farming and rural residents by providing opportunities to understand the current status of local agriculture and rural areas and pre-residential experience.”
