[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Jeonju City convened experts and citizens to systematically establish the Cheonman Geuru Garden City, which can build green infrastructure and revitalize the garden industry.
On the 2nd, at the Jeonju Urban Innovation Center, the city held a "Cheonman Geuru Garden City Comprehensive Plan Establishment Service Citizen Public Hearing" attended by about 50 people including Hong Gwangpyo, chief researcher of the Korea Garden Design Association, the service performing organization, garden experts, and citizens.
On this day, Chief Researcher Hong Gwangpyo emphasized the identity of the garden city unique to Jeonju by proposing planting types and species corresponding to urban functions based on field survey results in collaboration with local experts and civic groups.
He also discussed ways to create a garden city that enhances urban value by discovering garden industry models that can promote regional development and utilizing the resources and characteristics of the region, such as natural ecology and cultural value.
Going forward, the city plans to finalize the Cheonman Geuru Garden City comprehensive plan through the final report meeting of the comprehensive plan establishment service at the end of this month and announce key strategic projects for the garden city.
An official from the city's Cheonman Geuru Garden City Division said, "The Cheonman Geuru Garden City will be a solution to fine dust and heat island phenomena and the first step toward a resilient city where humans and nature coexist."
