According to the foundation, Muju Nonghyup (Chairman Kwak Dongyeol) donated 3 million KRW, and Dancheonhoe (Chairman Park Kyungryong) sponsored 2 million KRW.
The Muju-gun Education Development Scholarship Foundation was established in 2009 and has raised and operated a fund of about 8.8 billion KRW. As of the 2nd of this year, more than 75 million KRW in donations have been collected.
Starting this year, the foundation has attracted attention by providing 200,000 KRW scholarships to new high school students who graduated from middle schools within the district and enrolled in high schools within the district, and 1 million KRW per semester scholarships to new university students who graduated from high schools within the district.
Kwak Dongyeol, Chairman of Muju Nonghyup, said, "Everyone is going through difficult times, but I was moved to see people participating in good causes by even returning disaster basic income to society." He added, "Muju Nonghyup employees also pooled their hearts little by little to join this intention, and we decided to donate the scholarship funds hoping they would be used for nurturing talent."
Park Kyungryong, Chairman of Dancheonhoe, said, "Although we are a social group, we always wish for the development of Muju and the happiness of its residents." He continued, "This time as well, we thought about what we could do for Muju and decided to support it with the belief that investing in future generations is the answer."
