The national point number is a location indication system that divides the entire national territory into a grid pattern. It was devised to report the exact location in case of emergencies occurring in environments where it is difficult to specify a place, such as mountainous or forested areas.
The smart national point number plates installed by Jangseong-gun this time are equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) chips.
In case of an emergency, if a phone with NFC functionality is brought close to the number plate, the application (Smart Distress Reporting System) automatically runs, and the national point number for that location is entered.
The reporter can send the entered information to the fire station and police station.
Phones that do not support NFC can use the system by activating the photo mode and scanning the QR code on the number plate.
Since the national point number consists of a 10-digit combination of letters and numbers, it compensates for the high possibility of errors or typos during reporting.
It is expected that accurate location information can be transmitted to the relevant agencies, enabling prompt rescue and support activities.
Yoo Doo-seok, the mayor of Jangseong-gun, said, "With the opening of the golden suspension bridge and the creation of the lakeside trail on the right side of the lake, more visits to the Jangseongho lakeside trail are expected," and added, "We will ensure the safety of tourists through thorough system establishment."
