Jeonbuk Province Conducts Special Vehicle Emission Crackdown... "No Smoke Allowed~" Jeonbuk Provincial Government Office

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Jeonbuk Province announced that it will conduct a special crackdown on vehicle emissions starting from the 3rd.

The targets are freight vehicles with a high proportion of fine dust emissions, as well as buses and academy vans that frequently travel within urban areas.

The crackdown method involves roadside inspections using measuring devices after vehicles stop in densely populated areas, combined with non-stop video measurements.

The inspection team consists of 38 members in 14 teams from the province and city/counties, focusing on diesel vehicle smoke emissions.

All vehicle drivers must comply with this inspection, and those who refuse or obstruct the inspection will be fined up to 2 million won.

Vehicles exceeding the emission standards will receive an improvement order to have the vehicle repaired and inspected within 15 days; failure to comply will result in a suspension of operation for up to ten days.

A provincial official stated, “Through this crackdown, we aim to raise residents' environmental awareness regarding vehicle emissions, a major source of fine dust, and ensure proper reduction management.”
