Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Cha Hyeon-il is observing the testing process at the walk-through screening clinic installed in Yeouido Ankara Park on the 31st of last month.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is taking the lead in proactive measures to prevent the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) by conducting tests on all visitors to the Yeouido Hongwoo Building where confirmed cases occurred, installing a walk-through screening clinic at Ankara Park, and completing a total of 1,341 tests.
As soon as a confirmed case was reported at the Yeouido Hongwoo Building on the 28th of last month, the district immediately began epidemiological investigations and quarantine administration, completing full disinfection of all confirmed patients' visit routes from the 24th to the 28th.
Additionally, through on-site inspections, the district secured a complete list of all visitors who entered and exited the Hongwoo Building from the 25th to the 27th, and conducted COVID-19 tests on all 4,108 individuals who wished to be tested, regardless of symptom presence.
This proactive response by the district has also drawn attention from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
Moreover, as the number of testing candidates related to the Hongwoo Building surged, the district urgently pushed to install a walk-through screening clinic from 6 p.m. on the 29th of last month to conduct rapid testing, completing site selection, equipment procurement, and installation in less than a day.
As a result, from the morning of the 30th, the walk-through screening clinic, including three specimen testing booths, began operation at Ankara Park in Yeouido, enabling uninterrupted COVID-19 testing for visitors to the Hongwoo Building.
The number of tests conducted at the Ankara Park screening clinic was 701 on the 30th, 443 on the 31st, and 197 by noon on June 1st. Despite totaling 1,341 tests, no COVID-19 positive cases were detected.
After all those wishing to be tested related to the Hongwoo Building completed testing, the Ankara Park walk-through screening clinic was closed at noon on June 1st, returning to a system operating five screening clinics combining existing public health centers and local medical institutions.
It has been confirmed that the report that a private academy instructor and their family at the Yeouido Hongwoo Building, who tested positive on the 28th of last month, were infected through a Coupang logistics center employee is not true.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Since the occurrence of confirmed cases at the Yeouido academy, we have been responding with an all-out effort under a 24-hour emergency civil-government cooperation system. We will block community transmission through rapid testing and thorough quarantine to protect the lives and safety of our residents.”
