Establishment of a Rural-Urban Complex Smart Innovation Village in Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it has been selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Smart Village Supply and Expansion' public contest project, the first in Gyeongnam.

This project aims to enable rural areas to enjoy the benefits of the 4th Industrial Revolution. On the 29th of last month, the city held a project kickoff meeting with related parties from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency.

The city formed a consortium and, together with the National Information Society Agency, will invest a total of 2.85 billion KRW, including 1.85 billion KRW in government grants and 1 billion KRW in local government and private contributions, by the end of this year to establish a 'Sustainable Urban-Rural Complex Smart Innovation Village' service in Jinyeong-eup, where a rural central area revitalization project is currently underway.

The urban-rural complex smart innovation village secures basic funding through a solar power generation project and continuously integrates smart services throughout the village to make residents' lives more convenient and safe.

Specifically, to build the basic infrastructure for an energy prosumer (consumer participation) innovation pilot village, the project will first establish a renewable village management system such as a smart energy bank and renewable solar power generation, and install smart bus stops and smart crosswalks to create convenient public transportation and a safe pedestrian environment.

Additionally, to support farm productivity amid aging, the project will operate autonomous work tractors, provide a smart health management system that allows elderly residents to monitor their own health, and offer a landslide early warning and alert system to prevent landslide safety accidents.
