[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, who claimed a 'behind-the-scenes theory' about grandmother Lee Yong-soo, a victim of the Japanese military sexual slavery and the first to raise allegations of accounting fraud against Yoon Mi-hyang, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, and the Justice and Memory Foundation (Jeong-ui-yeon), has been reported to the prosecution.
The Association of Judicial Examination Preparers (Sajunmo) announced on the 1st that they filed a complaint against Kim at the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Information and Communications Network Act) or defamation.
Sajunmo argued that Kim's claim on the tbs radio program 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' that Choi Yong-sang, representative of the Gaja Human Rights and Peace Party, was behind grandmother Lee constitutes a violation of the Information and Communications Network Act or defamation. Kim made statements on the 26th of last month such as "What the grandmother said is similar to Representative Choi's claim" and "It is clear that the press conference document was not written directly by the grandmother."
In response, grandmother Lee Yong-soo fully denied the behind-the-scenes theory, saying, "I can even send the draft of the (press conference) statement," and her adopted daughter also stated, "Grandmother wrote it herself."
Sajunmo said, "Since grandmother Lee Yong-soo and her adopted daughter Ms. Kwak have refuted by saying 'the press conference statement was directly written by grandmother Lee Yong-soo with the help of Ms. Kwak,' the content of the accused's broadcast should be regarded as false," and urged the prosecution to investigate, stating, "It is believed that the accused intended to defame the grandmother through this broadcast."
