"Split Delivery Service"…Hyundai Home Shopping Introduces 'Banban Delivery' Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Hyundai Home Shopping will introduce a ‘Banban Delivery’ service for food products sold on its data home shopping channel ‘Hyundai Home Shopping Plus Shop’ starting from the 2nd. Although the home shopping industry has temporarily offered services that split product quantities for certain items, this is the first time such a service is being introduced as a regular offering.

‘Banban Delivery’ is a service that divides the quantity of large-capacity food products in half and delivers them in two shipments. It leverages the advantage of home shopping products sold at affordable prices in bulk while differentiating delivery based on the customer’s product consumption period.

A Hyundai Home Shopping official said, “Recently, the distribution industry has been competing to provide faster delivery such as same-day delivery to enhance customer shopping convenience. To establish more differentiated delivery competitiveness, we decided to introduce ‘Banban Delivery.’”

Starting from the 2nd, Hyundai Home Shopping plans to apply the ‘Banban Delivery’ service to ‘Master Park Mihee’s Kimchi (10kg),’ which is broadcast and sold once or twice a month. When customers order the product, they will first receive 5kg of kimchi, which is half the total quantity, and then another 5kg of freshly made kimchi will be delivered 14 days later.

Hyundai Home Shopping plans to expand the ‘Banban Delivery’ service to other large-capacity food products scheduled for broadcast sales on ‘Hyundai Home Shopping Plus Shop’ in the second half of this year, including ‘Gomtang’ starting mid-next month. They are also considering introducing the ‘Banban Delivery’ service for Hyundai Home Shopping live broadcast products and items on the comprehensive online shopping mall Hyundai H Mall.

They plan to improve the ‘Banban Delivery’ service so that customers can directly choose the delivery dates. Currently, the remaining quantity is sent uniformly 14 days after the first delivery, but in the future, customers will be able to select their preferred delivery dates. Additionally, they are reviewing services that divide large-capacity food products into smaller portions and send them to two or more addresses.
