[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] AtlasBX Motorsports, sponsored by Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire), announced on the 1st that it has signed veteran driver Myunggil Choi, who has 12 years of experience, as a new team member.
Myunggil Choi is a Korean-Dutch driver who has competed in the F3 German Championship and GP2 Series. He joined Solite Indigo Racing Team, one of the prestigious domestic teams, in 2009 and has been active in the CJ Super Race. He is one of the top domestic drivers, having won multiple championship titles including 1st place overall in the 2011-2012 Korea Speed Festival (KSF) Genesis Coupe 3800 class, 1st place overall in the 2014 KSF Genesis Coupe 10 class, and 1st place overall in the 2016 CJ Super Race GT1 class.
This recruitment was made to replace Masataka Yanagida, who had been a team member for the past three years, as it became practically difficult for overseas-based drivers to participate in domestic competitions due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Although Masataka Yanagida has been excluded from the domestic competition lineup, he will continue to participate in overseas competitions such as the '24H Series' as a driver for AtlasBX Motorsports.
With this, AtlasBX Motorsports will compete in the '2020 CJ Logistics Super Race Championship' with a lineup of three drivers: CEO and driver Jangwoo Cho, Myunggil Choi, and Jongkyum Kim, aiming for the overall championship title for the fourth consecutive year.
Myunggil Choi said, "I am pleased to become a member of AtlasBX Motorsports, the top prestigious team that is on the rise. I will do my best to contribute to the team's efforts to achieve the great feat of winning the overall championship for four consecutive years."
