Dobong-gu 'Installation of Thermal Imaging Cameras' and 'Comprehensive Inspection of Multi-use Facilities such as Karaoke Rooms'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) has urgently installed thermal imaging cameras at public facilities to strengthen the quarantine system in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

With enhanced quarantine measures implemented in the metropolitan area from 6 p.m. on the 29th of last month, the district invested 33 million KRW to acquire 20 thermal imaging cameras.

As of the 29th of last month, the district installed two high-performance thermal imaging cameras at the two main entrances of the open district office building, deployed staff, and placed hand sanitizers throughout the main entrances, the building, and elevators to make every effort to prevent infection.

Additionally, in line with the reopening schedule of postponed facilities, thermal imaging cameras will be installed at a total of 16 locations including youth facilities, district libraries, community centers, elderly vulnerable facilities, and the Dooly Museum to ensure the quarantine network remains intact and to fully commit to infectious disease prevention.

Moreover, two backup thermal imaging cameras have been prepared to prevent COVID-19 during events where many people gather.

As small-scale group infections continue in places such as academies and logistics centers, the district is doing its utmost to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into the local community by continuously conducting quarantine activities and placing hand sanitizers at heavily used multi-use facilities, including 200 bus stops.

So far, the district has supported vulnerable groups, kindergartens, and daycare centers with approximately 218,000 KF94 masks, about 50,000 public safety masks (cotton masks), and around 17,000 hand sanitizers for sports facilities and public housing.

Furthermore, to prevent COVID-19, the district has conducted quarantine activities at multi-use facilities and health-vulnerable facilities such as subways, traditional markets, and daycare centers, including ▲ 4,115 times by the Public Health Center's mobile quarantine team ▲ 3,700 times by the Saemaul Leaders Council ▲ 5,993 times by the private special quarantine team.

Meanwhile, the district provides free rental of portable disinfection devices at community service centers so that small business owners, daycare centers, senior centers, and other facilities can perform eco-friendly disinfection, with over 2,100 devices rented out to date.

Also, on the 29th of last month, the district spent about 19 million KRW to support 215 daycare centers with 215 automatic hand sanitizers and 430 hand sanitizer refills.

In particular, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district has formed inspection teams to continuously check over 420 multi-use facilities such as karaoke rooms and PC rooms. From 6 p.m. on the 29th of last month, the inspection teams, organized in pairs, conducted a comprehensive two-day inspection to ensure compliance with quarantine rules.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Thanks to the active participation and cooperation of the residents, we were able to block additional infections and safely overcome this difficult phase,” and added, “We plan to continuously strive to strengthen thorough quarantine activities so that residents can live safely from COVID-19 infectious disease.”
