Recruiting 100 People, 30% Special Selection for Socially Vulnerable Including Basic Livelihood Security Recipients... University Student Part-time Job Applicants Apply on Website from June 1 to 10
Yuseong Hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon District, is having a meeting with young people who participated in the college student part-time job program during last summer vacation.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is conducting recruitment for the ‘2020 Summer Vacation University Student Part-time Job’ from June 1 to 10 to provide university students with an opportunity to understand district administration and earn tuition money during the summer vacation.
A total of 100 positions are being recruited this time, consisting of 70 ‘General Selection’ and 30 ‘Priority Selection’ positions. The part-time job opportunities, which were insufficient compared to the number of applicants with a high competition rate of 9.1:1 over the past two years, have been doubled starting this year.
Eligibility requires applicants to be currently registered residents of Geumcheon-gu as of the application start date (June 1) and to be enrolled or on leave at a college or higher institution. However, those who have worked within the past two years, prospective university students, graduate students, students of broadcasting and communication universities, cyber universities, and academic credit bank system (academy) students are excluded.
The ‘Priority Selection’ targets include those designated as recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security or lower-income class or their children, households with three or more children (registered in the same household), persons with disabilities (registered under the Disability Welfare Act), North Korean defectors, and those with over 100 hours of volunteer work after university admission.
The working period is from July 3 to 31. Working hours are five hours per day, five days a week, arranged in consultation with the assigned department between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tasks include administrative assistance, fieldwork support, and event support at the district office, health center, community service centers, and related institutions.
The salary is 51,535 KRW per day including lunch expenses, amounting to approximately 1.27 million KRW for full attendance.
University students wishing to participate can apply through the integrated reservation service on the Geumcheon-gu Office website. Selected candidates will be announced through a public electronic lottery on June 15.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon stated, “The annual university student part-time job program will provide young people who are about to start their social life with an opportunity to experience career paths and learn more about the community they live in. We have expanded the selection compared to previous years to offer opportunities to more university students, so we hope for active interest and participation from university students.”
