On the 30th (Korean time), the Symetra Tour announced on its website, "Sorenstam has delivered $50,000 through her foundation," adding, "The funds will be distributed as $500 each to 100 players facing financial difficulties due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)." Applications will be accepted until June 12, with payments made in early July. The Symetra Tour has been 'shut down' since holding one tournament in March and is expected to resume at the end of July.
Sorenstam has accumulated a total of 72 wins on the LPGA Tour, including 10 major championships. In 2002, she notably won 11 tournaments, making big news. She explained, "Many players from our foundation are on the Symetra Tour," and "I want to help them achieve their dream of advancing to the LPGA Tour." Golf Digest USA commented, "Even if Symetra Tour players complete the full annual schedule, it is difficult to maintain their livelihood," and expressed hope that "Sorenstam's donation will be helpful."
