[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] As protests against the death of a Black man caused by excessive force by a white police officer in the 'George Floyd case' erupted in Washington D.C., the White House was completely locked down.
According to major U.S. media on the 29th (local time), the U.S. Secret Service (SS) issued a lockdown order to fully control access due to the protest held in front of the White House that afternoon.
Hundreds of protesters blocked roads around the intersection of 14th Street and U Street Northwest and held a protest rally that afternoon. Afterwards, they marched about 2 km in a straight line toward the White House.
When the protesters arrived at Lafayette Park north of the White House, the Secret Service began lockdown measures. Secret Service personnel sprayed tear gas at protesters attempting to enter the White House and arrested participants.
