US Nationwide Spread of Protests Over Black Deaths... Police Stations Also Set on Fire

[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The bloody riots and violent protests triggered by the death of unarmed Black man George Floyd due to the brutal actions of white police officers are spreading nationwide across the United States.

On the 29th (local time), according to CNN and others, the intense protest that began on the 26th in Minneapolis, Minnesota, spread to more than 10 cities nationwide within three days.

On that day, the police station in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the Floyd incident occurred, was set on fire. When the police authorities issued an evacuation order for the police station near the protest site to protect their staff the day before, the protesters broke into the empty police station and set it on fire.

In Saint Paul, the "Twin City" adjacent to Minneapolis, about 200 stores were looted, and dozens of fires broke out.

Minnesota declared a state of emergency the day before and deployed about 500 National Guard troops to Minneapolis and Saint Paul, but the situation has not improved.

President Donald Trump labeled the protesters who caused the riots as "thugs" and declared a tough response, saying, "When the looting starts, the shooting starts," but the protests are spreading to more than 10 cities across the United States.

The protests spread nationwide to cities including New York City, Los Angeles (LA), Phoenix, Denver, Louisville, Memphis, Portland, and Orlando.

In New York, clashes between protesters and police resulted in two officers suffering concussions during the suppression process, and at least 72 people were arrested.
