[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lim Jae-woo] Gunsan City announced on the 29th that applications for the 2020 Energy Voucher program, which supports heating and cooling costs for low-income households, are being accepted at each eup, myeon, and dong community service center.
The 2020 Energy Voucher program provides vulnerable groups with a card-type voucher that automatically deducts summer electricity bills, winter electricity, city gas, and district heating fees, or can be used to purchase kerosene, briquettes, and other fuels.
The application period is until December 31, and eligible recipients are those receiving livelihood or medical benefits who have at least one household member who is a senior aged 65 or older (born on or before December 31, 1955), an infant under 6 years old (born on or after January 1, 2014), a person with disability grades 1 to 6, a pregnant woman, a person with a severe illness, or a household with at least one member from a single-parent family.
The usage period for the summer voucher is from July 1 to September 30, and for the winter voucher from October 14 to April 30, 2021. The support amount is determined based on the household's energy demand characteristics: 95,000 KRW for a single-person household, 134,000 KRW for a two-person household, and 167,000 KRW for households with three or more members.
A city official stated, "We hope this will provide some help during these economically difficult times due to the local economic downturn and COVID-19."
