Prosecutors Decide Not to Indict Kim Kyung-ho, President of Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation

[Asia Economy Reporters Jongil Park and Jeongyun Lee] The prosecution has decided not to indict Kim Kyungho, the president of the Seoul Agricultural and Marine Products Corporation, who was accused of leaking internal documents during the president recruitment process.

On the 29th, according to the Seoul Agricultural and Marine Products Corporation and the prosecution, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office announced the previous day that it would not indict Kim, who was reported on charges of obstruction of business and violation of the Personal Information Protection Act, citing insufficient evidence.

Kim was accused by an employee who claimed that during the president recruitment process of the Seoul Agricultural and Marine Products Corporation in September last year, Kim colluded with a corporation executive, promising to guarantee an executive position upon appointment in exchange for helping with the president's selection, but then did not promote the employee.

However, Kim completely denied the allegations during the police investigation. At the administrative audit by the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Planning and Economy Committee (Chairman Yoo Yong) in November last year, he stated, "During the preparation process for the corporation president, a section chief who had worked with me at Seoul City introduced an employee who could help understand the corporation's work," but added, "There was absolutely nothing against conscience or law in the president appointment process."

Kim claimed, "That employee conspired twice with the corporation's distribution headquarters director and the Gangseo branch manager but failed, and out of resentment, fabricated this incident."

In a phone interview with reporters on the same day, Kim said, "Justice has been served. Now that the obstacles blocking reform have been removed, I will accelerate efforts to maintain order in the wholesale market streets and promote distribution reform."

Meanwhile, Kim graduated from Chonnam National University with a degree in Business Administration, passed the 31st Administrative Examination, served as Director of Welfare and Health at Seoul City, Head of the Transportation Headquarters, District Mayor of Guro and Gwangjin, and Director of the City Council Secretariat before retiring and taking office as president of the corporation.
