[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongsang National University and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 28th that they held a "Design Commencement Report Meeting" in the university headquarters' conference room to share the design plan and project schedule for the construction of university-collaborative happy housing.
About 20 officials attended the design commencement report meeting, including Gyeongsang National University President Lee Sang-kyung, university executives, the head and staff of LH's Urban Regeneration Housing Division, and the representative of the design firm.
Gyeongsang National University and Korea Land & Housing Corporation signed a basic agreement for the construction of university-collaborative happy housing on November 23, 2016.
Subsequently, Gyeongsang National University went through several internal review procedures to select a site available for construction within the Gajwa Campus, and in September 2018, decided on a resting land inside the student dormitory as the planned site.
The future schedule includes completion of basic and detailed design by July this year, application for project approval, construction bidding and project approval in October, execution of the implementation agreement and groundbreaking in December, with completion scheduled for December 2022 and move-in planned for March 2023.
President Lee Sang-kyung of Gyeongsang National University said, "Since the signing of the basic agreement in November 2016, both institutions have maintained continuous relations and consultations, and now we have prepared a basic plan (draft) that can fully activate and specify the project. This will serve as a model case of collaboration between regional universities and public institutions."
Kim Jeong-min, head of LH's Urban Regeneration Housing Division, emphasized, "Jinju is a city where LH headquarters is located, and we consider it meaningful to construct happy housing at Gyeongsang National University, a regional hub national university. We will do our best to ensure the construction of the highest quality happy housing."
