[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The area around Majang Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 will see efforts to strengthen the transit-oriented central functions and improve the residential environment.
Seoul City announced on the 28th that it held the 7th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting on the 27th and "approved with modifications" the district unit plan area and planning decision for the Majang Station district.
The Majang Station district covers the area from Majang Station to the nearby Cheonggyecheon stream, with the planned relocation site of the KEPCO Logistics Center and the Majang Livestock Market located nearby. This area is also partially included in the Majang Livestock Market Urban Regeneration Activation Plan zone.
This decision was made to strengthen the transit-oriented central functions of the stagnating Majang Station area and improve the residential environment in the back residential areas in connection with the urban regeneration activation plan. Through this, the city has prepared measures to induce regional revitalization and improve the pedestrian system for the Majang Station area and the planned relocation site of the KEPCO Logistics Center. For the back residential areas, a land-use plan for residential environment improvement was prepared in connection with the activation plan.
A Seoul city official expressed expectations, saying, "Through strengthening the central functions of large-scale idle sites such as the planned relocation site of the KEPCO Logistics Center and the transit-oriented area, we can contribute to the regional revitalization of the Majang Station area."
