[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] 'Cheongsinho (靑新戶)', a public rental housing brand by Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) that won the Special Residence Brand Award, means 'a home for youth and newlyweds.'
SH Corporation is actively introducing specialized floor plans under the Cheongsinho brand targeting ▲single-person households such as university students and job seekers ▲young professionals ▲newlyweds before childbirth ▲newlyweds with children. Cheongsinho housing expands the area and includes community facilities tailored to the living characteristics of youth and newlyweds. The main focus areas are establishing spatial order, providing alpha spaces, optimizing space, and specializing in storage.
The most notable feature of the specialized floor plans is 'My Own One Pyeong (3.3㎡).' The area is expanded compared to SH Corporation's existing standard floor plans, offering studio types (17㎡→20㎡) and two-room types (36㎡→39㎡). By maximizing space utilization through storage and layout, the same space allows for lifestyles suited to various needs.
For youth, Cheongsinho housing offers three types: Youth Nomad Type (studio), Work & Life Type (separated living room and bedroom), and Social Dining Type (expanded living room). For newlyweds, three types have been developed: Self-Development Type (newlyweds without children), Child Planning Type (2-3 person households), and Child Rearing Type (3-4 person households). In newlywed complexes, daycare centers are mandatory, and indoor playgrounds and kids cafes free from fine dust concerns are installed. Youth housing will provide community facilities for various activities difficult to do at home, such as musical instrument practice and collaborative work.
The first Cheongsinho housing is 'Jeongneung Haneulmaru,' a Happy Housing complex in Jeongneung-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, which began occupancy in April. Jeongneung Haneulmaru was built on the site of the Jeongneung Sky row houses, which were disaster-risk facilities. It consists of 166 households from basement level 2 to 4 floors above ground, supplying 108 units for youth and 25 units for newlyweds. Additionally, 33 units were supplied for the elderly and welfare recipients. In the subscription held last September for Jeongneung Haneulmaru, 3,145 applicants competed, recording a competition rate of 18.95 to 1.
Next month, the second Cheongsinho housing, 'Sopereum' Happy Housing in Oryu 1-dong, Guro-gu, will be put up for sale. Sopereum consists of 180 households, including 82 urban lifestyle housing units of 16-17㎡ (exclusive area) from basement level 4 to 18 floors above ground, and 98 officetel units of 20-22㎡. The sales schedule will begin with the announcement of tenant recruitment at the end of June. Parking facilities will be located underground, with a community center on floors 2 to 5, urban lifestyle housing on floors 6 to 11, and officetels on floors 12 to 18. Rooftop greening and solar power generation facilities will also be introduced. The winner announcement is scheduled for early November, with contracts and move-in planned for the end of December.
